Sport and recreational fishermen can enjoy optimal conditions at the fishing ponds and the Oberharzer dams. Fishing cards for Ilsenburg and information are available from the Tourist Information. You can obtain fishing permits from the Ilsenburg Tourist Information Office upon presentation of the fishing license.

There are also fishing opportunities in the Drübeck district and at the ponds of the Veckenstedter Teichwirtschaft (3 km).
Bathing, swimming and relaxing in good weather
The outdoor pools in Ilsenburg and Darlingerode invite you to swim and relax.
Ilsenburg guests receive reduced admission to both outdoor pools with the Harz guest card.
The country house "Zu den Rothen Forellen", the forest hotel and the mountain hotel Ilsenburg offer their guests the opportunity to relax in their own swimming and sauna area.

The bathing experience on 1200 sqm, spacious green area, beautiful view of the mountains, bathing fun for young and old, playground, table tennis, volleyball court, badminton court, swimming courses and much more.

Gemeinde Nordharz
Located in the immediate vicinity of Ilsenburg, in the scenic northern Harz foothills between the Harz and Fallstein, the municipality of Nordharz offers a wide range of opportunities to spend carefree holidays. Here you have a unique, open and unobstructed view of the steeply rising Harz Mountains near Ilsenburg and the Brocken. Cycling is particularly good here.
The signposted routes along the “Green Belt” are particularly suitable for children. Along the former border, past fantastic viewpoints and the northern Harz districts with their well-preserved historic town centers, you continue on developed farm roads through the impressive landscape. From the wealth of recommended leisure activities, a visit to the Abben-rode local museum and mill hiking trail or a detour to the Ilsestrandbad should be mentioned here.
A special highlight for fishing enthusiasts is the Veckenstedt pond farm. Here you can fish for fresh fish at well-maintained fishing ponds with natural banks or simply buy delicious smoked goods.
